POKOTABI / Uoisa
魚伊三テイクアウト店
Located in Sekimachihigashi, Nerima Ward, Uoisa brings its catering pedigree to an everyday takeout counter, offering cut wild southern bluefin tuna, custom-simmered bento boxes, and house Saikyo-yaki.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Behind display cases arranged with the clean precision of a department-store food hall, Uoisa presents a lineup shaped by its roots as a fishmonger and decades of formal catering experience. The takeout shop serves as a dependable stop when looking to bring professionally prepared seafood and labor-intensive traditional side dishes to the home table.
The premier draw is the limited-quantity cut wild southern bluefin tuna. The finely marbled fatty cuts melt smoothly across the tongue, while the lean akami offers a firm bite, rich umami, and an invigorating touch of acidity. Enjoyed simply with wasabi soy sauce as sashimi, it makes a luxurious plate, but it is equally rewarding piled over a bowl of hot steamed rice.
Among the prepared meals, the Nishime Bento stands as a masterclass in catering technique. Seasonal elements including taro, bamboo shoots, ganmodoki tofu fritters, pumpkin, konjac, and shiitake mushrooms are simmered in individual pots with calibrated seasonings to ensure each retains its texture while absorbing the dashi to its core. Even when eaten cold, the flavors remain clear and wholesome, complemented by a fillet of grilled salmon marinated in house-made Saikyo miso.
Those partial to grilled fish should consider the Greenland Halibut Saikyo-yaki Bento. Thick fillets steep in house-blended sweet Saikyo miso before being broiled until tender and flaky. The buttery fish pairs naturally with rice made from Miyagi-grown Tsuyahime, which conceals a hidden layer of dashi-infused bonito flakes beneath sheets of nori seaweed.
The counter also stocks a generous variety of standalone delicatessen items. Large grilled tuna collars seasoned with savory soy glaze and sweet-simmered shigureni tuna accented with sansho pepper make welcome additions to a home dinner or drinks. Rounded out with onigiri or chawanmushi, diners can readily assemble a tailored meal according to the day's mood.
